Selangor Ruler confers awards

KLANG: Newly-minted International Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz is among 104 people selected to receive various awards and medals in conjunction with Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s 77th birthday.Tengku Zafrul was also among the two to receive the Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor (SPMS), which carries the title Datuk Seri.

Also receiving the SPMS award is Perdana Parkcity Sdn Bhd Group president Datuk Seri Yaw Chee Ming.

This year’s recipients will receive awards and medals at the investiture ceremony to be held at Istana Alam Shah here.

Selangor mufti Datuk Dr Anhar Opir is the sole recipient of the Datuk Setia - Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (SSIS) award, which comes with the title Datuk Setia.

Ten people will receive the Datuk Paduka Mahkota Selangor (DPMS) award that comes with the title Datuk.

Among them are Malaysian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Datuk Zakri Jaafar; Malaysian Ambassador to Japan Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany; Datuk Roslan Abdul Rahman, who is a deputy chief secretary at the Foreign Ministry; Universiti Putra Malaysia vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Roslan Sulaiman; Selangor legal adviser Datuk Salim Soib @ Hamid; Royal Malaysian Navy’s Vice-Admiral Datuk Abu Bakar Mohd Ajis; Shah Alam Sessions Court judge Datuk Ishak Bakri; Seremban High Court judge Azizul Azmi Adnan; International Automobile Federation vice-president Lee Lung Nien; and Valiram Group executive chairman Sharan Jethanand Valiram.

Among the 11 people receiving the Darjah Kebesaran Datuk - Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (DSIS), which carries the title Datuk for men and Datin Paduka for women, are Petaling district officer Mohd Jusni Hashim, Selangor Forestry Department director Datuk Ahmad Fadzil Abdul Majid, University Putra Malaysia Communications Department academic Prof Datuk Dr Abdul Mu’ati @ Zamri Ahmad, Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery general manager Munasor Aliyasak and Puan Sri Thamayanti Devi Ampikaipakan.Nineteen people will receive the Setia Makhota Selangor (SMS), which does not come with any title, and another 19 will be conferred the Darjah Kebesaran Setia - Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (SIS), which also does not carry a title.

Others conferred non-titled awards were 17 people receiving the Ahli Makhota Selangor (AMS), 15 people receiving the Ahli-Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (AIS), three people receiving the Bintang Kecemerlangan Sukan Selangor (BKS) and seven people receiving the Bintang Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (BPC).

Athletes receiving the BKS are karate exponents Sharmendran Raghonathan and C. Shamalarani, as well as golfer Marcus Lim Pang Chuen. All three won gold medals in the 2022 SEA Games.
