Hamzah is Opposition Leader in Parliament

KOTA BARU: The Perikatan Nasional MPs Committee has agreed to appoint Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin as the Opposition Leader in the Dewan Rakyat.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the matter was decided in a meeting several days ago.

He said the nomination of Hamzah, the Larut MP, had also been submitted to Parliament.

“We have set up a committee among the 74 Perikatan MPs and agreed to appoint Hamzah as the Opposition Leader.

“The committee also appointed Perikatan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as chief of the coalition MPs and PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang as deputy,” he told reporters when attending a thanksgiving ceremony to celebrate the Bunot Payung state constituency machinery at Wakaf Che Yeh here yesterday, Bernama reported.

Apart from that, Takiyuddin said, the committee also agreed to appoint him as the Perikatan chief whip.
