PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Faizal Azumu has expressed disappointment and a sense of betrayal over the ongoing turmoil within Perikatan Nasional.
The Bersatu vice-president said he was disappointed over the current situation, saying that something they had built together had now turned into a crisis that could have serious repercussions.
"A few friends have been asking how I am and expressing their sympathy over what has happened," he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (Sept 24).
"Please report this: Of course, I feel disappointed, angry, ashamed and betrayed."
Earlier, Perikatan secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the coalition did not rule out the possibility that the move to cancel its registration was driven by a bad faith agenda and political pressure from parties within and outside the coalition.
Takiyuddin said the coalition had received a notice from the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to show cause within 30 days why its registration should not be cancelled.
Faizal, better known as Peja, said he was also angry with those who had hidden behind a facade of goodness while creating problems that ultimately harmed themselves.
"(I am) angry because they hide behind a facade of goodness, yet create trouble that ultimately harms themselves," he said without naming any parties.
Faizal also took aim at those who, he said, had shown respect and shared in the benefits of power when a particular leader was in a position of strength, but became arrogant and broke their promises when that leader was no longer in power.
He said such individuals continued to behave as though they were infallible and refused to accept responsibility for setbacks, instead blaming other leaders.
Faizal also reminded himself that he was not infallible and had to acknowledge and correct his own mistakes.
"I do not need to point fingers as though I am always right and everyone else is always wrong," he said.
"Perhaps you should do the same."
In a separate statement, the RoS said the notice issued against Perikatan under subsection 13(2) on Sept 22 was not a decision to cancel the coalition's registration, but was issued to allow it to explain a complaint lodged by Bersatu.
The RoS said the notice gave Perikatan a reasonable period to respond, while a suspension order had also been issued under subsection 13(2A), suspending all its activities with effect from Wednesday (Sept 23).
