46 bookies nabbed in Johor


JOHOR BARU: Police action against bookies involved with the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar is continuing with the arrest of 46 bookies in Johor.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the suspects were rounded up from Nov 21 till Tuesday, with 45 raids conducted statewide under Ops Soga.

“We also seized items used for illegal gambling activities at the premises we raided,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Comm Kamarul Zaman said the items included 48 mobile phones, SIM cards and a memo pad book containing details of the bets.
