Close to RM60mil in traffic summonses settled in 2022, says IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: Close to RM60mil in traffic summonses have been settled this year, says Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

The Inspector-General of Police said some RM10.37mil of payments were collected via 37 counters, which offered 50% discounts nationwide between Jan and Oct.

"The response towards settling summonses online via the MyBayar Saman portal and app have also been tremendous.

"A total of 105,260 users paid their summonses online amounting to RM49.6mil between Jan and Oct this year. This achievement is a testament to the hard work and effort by the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT)," he said in a speech during the Bukit Aman monthly assembly on Tuesday (Dec 6).

Payment of summonses online have greatly enabled easier payments of overdue traffic summonses, he added.

The country's top cop also praised police officers and personnel, especially from JSPT, who have gone out of their way in helping people in need.

"It heartens me to see news on social media of policemen helping members of society despite it being beyond their job scopes.

"For example, there was news where JSPT personnel assisted in clearing out a clogged drain so that water could flow to ensure smooth traffic," he said.

Acryl Sani said he was proud that police personnel and officers showed compassion without any promise of a reward.

"All our actions are under public observation, thus, I have high hopes that all personnel and officers give the best service to society.

"Always remember "Polis dan Masyarakat Berpisah Tiada" (Police and Society are Inseparable)," he said.

Meanwhile, on the 15th General Election (GE15), the IGP praised the work and effort put forth by all officers and personnel in ensuring smooth elections.

"GE15 went on smoothly without any major unwanted incidents.

"For that, I am deeply grateful to the public, especially politicians and their supporters in giving good cooperation and abiding by the laws. Many parties and their supporters have shown maturity in campaigning," he said.

The police will always support the government's policies in ensuring the country is moving towards prosperity and growth, Acryl Sani said.

"Let us all give the best service with integrity for the good of the people and the country," he said.
