Chegubard expected to be charged at KL Sessions Court April 29

PETALING JAYA: Political activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin (pic), better known as Chegubard, is expected to be charged over his comments that a casino will be built in Forest City, Johor.

Badrul Hisham is expected to be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Monday (April 29) morning, said his lawyer.

He is expected to be charged under Section 500 of the Penal Code with defamation and under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948.

Badrul was arrested late Saturday (April 28) over his comments and was remanded for two days.

Badrul had posted comments on Facebook claiming there was a plan to build a casino in Forest City to revive the US$100bil township in Johor.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and officials of Berjaya Group and Genting Group have since denied a Bloomberg report alleging that Anwar had met Berjaya founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan and Genting Group chief executive Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay to discuss the issuance of a casino license for Forest City.
