Anwar arrives at Istana Negara to submit names of core Cabinet


KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has arrived at the Istana Negara at 8.20am on Friday (Dec 2) for a one-hour audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

It is believed that Anwar met the King to get the blessing of His Majesty over the core Cabinet members to be announced later in the day, Bernama tweeted.

The Prime Minister left the Palace at 9.20am and headed off to attend an audience with the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.

Anwar, who has yet to form his Cabinet, is expected to announce his first few Cabinet members at about 5pm, after his first trip back to his constituency Tambun, Perak after being sworn in as the 10th Prime Minister.

Those appointed to the Cabinet are expected to be sworn in before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Saturday (Dec 3).

Barisan Nasional chairman and Umno president Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Gabungan Parti Sarawak chief whip Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof have been mentioned as possible candidates for deputy prime minister.
