Couple killed, three-year-old daughter hurt in Kota Tinggi car crash

KOTA TINGGI: A husband and wife were killed while their three-year-old child was injured in a car crash at KM46 Jalan Johor Baru-Mersing here.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said the family was heading towards Skudai after the wife, 31, cast her vote in Lok Heng on Saturday (Nov 19).

"Investigations found that the husband, aged 37, suddenly lost control of their vehicle and veered into the opposite lane.

“An oncoming car then crashed into their vehicle,” he said in a statement.

Supt Hussin added that the husband and wife were pronounced dead at the scene, while their daughter's right leg was broken.

“The accident occurred during rainy weather,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Kota Tinggi Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Moh Rafi Mohd Nor said the child was rescued by the public and sent to Hospital Kota Tinggi for treatment.

“The other vehicle was driven by a 60-year-old man who was unharmed,” he said, adding that the department deployed eight personnel to the scene with one fire truck.
