PETALING JAYA: The possibility of appointing Khairy Jamaluddin as a deputy prime minister will only be discussed only after the 15th general election (GE15), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Barisan Nasional prime minister candidate and Umno vice-president said that the discussion on possible deputy prime ministers candidates from Umno, Sabah and Sarawak would only take place if Barisan wins GE15.

"We have yet to discuss about any potential deputy prime minister candidates but we can guarantee that we will uphold our promise to appoint a deputy prime minister each from Umno, Sabah and Sarawak.

"As for Khairy's potential to be a deputy prime minister, let us focus on winning first," he said at a meet-and-greet session with Khairy at a local restaurant in Sungai Buloh on Monday (Nov 14).

Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had previously said that the coalition would appoint three deputy prime ministers, one each from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak if they win GE15.
