GE15: Development plans for a 'Big Bentong' on the cards, says Liow

BENTONG: Tan Sri Liow Tiong Lai has a vision of a "Big Bentong", which will be detailed in the manifesto for the constituency to be launched on Thursday (Nov 10).

"I will keep my promise to the people of Bentong – my manifesto is not an empty promise," said the former Bentong MP.

"When Barisan makes a promise, we will fulfil it," he said during the launched CRSM Health Program in Chamang Baru on Monday (Nov 7).

He said DAP, which won the Bentong parliamentary seat in GE14 had promised to develop Bentong – but removed it from the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) route.

Liow said omitting the Bentong-Gombak link could affect ridership and the economy of the area.

He said Pakatan Harapan should not fool voters with their manifesto, and it was implementing their promises after the election that was crucial.

"The people of Bentong are still waiting for them to keep their promises," he said.

Liow said that the people wanted real growth and development, and not empty promises, unrealistic nor "recycled lies" from GE14.

Asked if Bentong voters were happy to see him make a return, he said they were enthusiastic and even said they missed him.

"I told them I missed them too, I have been here for more than thirty years.

"It breaks my heart every time I see that the development of Bentong has stagnated," he said.

Liow said the GE15 atmosphere was different from GE14.

"Bentong needs experienced candidates who are willing to sacrifice and serve," he said.

Liow said he wanted to get closer to people this time and meet them face to face rather than give a talk on a stage.

"I have time to sit down and talk in a coffee shop so people can actually communicate with me," he said.
