Five houses destroyed in Kg Baru fire


KUALA LUMPUR: Five houses were destroyed following a fire along Jalan Raja Abdullah at Kampung Baru here.

City Fire and Rescue Departments Operations Centre said they received a distress call about the incident at 8.19pm on Sunday (Nov 6).

"We immediately dispatched four fire engines, an aerial ladder platform vehicle, water tanker and emergency medical rescue services vehicle together with 36 personnel to the scene.

"The fire engulfed a 24m by 12m housing structure comprising five houses," it said in a statement.

It added that offensive and defensive fire fighting techniques were employed to fight the fire and stop it from spreading to other nearby structures.

"No casualties were reported as the cause of the fire and estimated damage were under investigation," it said.
