GE15: Perikatan's Mumtaz ready to take on Tumpat incumbent Che Abdullah

KUALA TERENGGANU: Perikatan Nasional candidate Datuk Mumtaz Md Nawi is unwavering despite facing an incumbent and a favourite candidate in Tumpat.

Mumtaz who is also a Kelantan state exco member said she was confident about winning the seat given that the same team who helped incumbent Tumpat MP Datuk Che Abdullah Mat Nawi would be behind her this time around.

"PAS' machinery is the same machinery that won before – God-willing, the results will remain the same.

"I have the same feeling (even though she's competing against an incumbent) because there will be opponents in every competition.

"We are not contesting against individuals, but this is a matter of policy and our struggle," she said when contacted.

Che Abdullah, or also known as Che Lah, was reported to have agreed to contest under the Barisan Nasional ticket for the seat.

Che Abdullah was among those who were dropped by PAS in the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15) because he didn't pass the syura council's vetting process.

In GE14, Che Abdullah defeated Barisan candidate Datuk Wan Johani Wan Hussin and Pakatan Harapan’s Datuk Nordin Salleh with a majority of 17,500 votes.

Mumtaz has over 10 years of experience in the state assembly and as state exco member.
