GE15: Larut, Bagan Datuk, Tambun constituencies among hotspots on Nomination Day, says Perak police chief

IPOH: Larut, Bagan Datuk and Tambun constituencies are among the hotspots for the 15th General Election Nomination Day, says comm Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

The Perak police chief said these locations would be given extra attention during Nomination Day, which falls on Nov 5.

"These locations are named as hotspots based on the individuals and the parties that are going to contest at the constituencies.

"On Nomination Day itself, we will have a total of 3,494 officers and personnel to be stationed at nomination centres across the state," he told reporters at Ipoh Contingent Headquarters here on Thursday (Nov 3).

Incumbent Bagan Datuk MP and Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is said to defend his seat against PKR's Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin and former Sungai Benut MP Tawfik Ismail.

For Larut, incumbent MP Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin (Bersatu) would be contesting against Barisan's Mohd Shafiq Fhadly Mahmud and Amanah's Zolkarnain Abidin.

Meanwhile for Tambun, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to contest against incumbent MP and Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu and Barisan's Datuk Aminuddin Md Hanafiah.

Comm Mohd Yusri added more than 7,000 police officers and personnel members would work from Nomination Day until polling day.

"During the Nomination Day, only the candidate, the proposer (pencadang calon) and a seconder are allowed to enter the nomination centre.

"Any type of musical instruments or devices, including vehicles used for political purposes, are not allowed (to enter) during Nomination Day," he said, adding that several roads would be closed on that day.

"All OCPDs will be issuing statements on road closures and alternative roads that can be used on the day," he said.
