MELAKA: Female Muay Thai exponents are ready to help as volunteers to ensure the safety and welfare of local voters in the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15).

The president of Muay Thai Rizq Club Linda Tambi Chek said her members could help ferry the disabled and senior citizens to polling stations as well as take care of the safety aspect of voters.

"We have formed a group of volunteers after the Muay Thai Grand Fight (MGF) 2022 on Oct 7 that was opened by Melaka Yang-di Pertua (Tun Dr Mohd Ali Rustam)," she said in an interview on Wednesday (Nov 2).

Linda said the move to volunteer in GE15 is to inspire local women to be catalysts in volunteer work as well as to make voters safer.

She said the members could cover areas identified as "hot seats" during nomination on Nov 5 and polling on Nov 19.

Linda said her members also planned to strengthen their social work by engaging with the local community after the elections.

She added the club’s objective was to empower and encourage women from all walks of life, to pool their resources and impact the lives of others.
