Cops investigate after foreign worker claims jewellery missing following raid

IPOH: The police are investigating a report lodged by a foreign worker who claimed his friend’s gold jewellery worth over RM14,000 was stolen after four civil servants raided his "rumah kongsi" in Pantai Remis, says Comm Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

The Perak police chief said the 34-year-old construction labourer from Myanmar said that on Oct 29 at about 10pm, four men had entered his house and started to ransack the place.

“The man said only after the incident, both he and his female friend realised that the jewellery worth RM14,200 was missing, and he then went to the Pantai Remis police station to lodge a report.

“We have arrested the four men who went to the ‘rumah kongsi’, as well as two other suspects believed to be involved to carry out investigations over the report made.

“We are investigating the case under Section 380 of the Penal Code for stealing, and all six have been remanded until Thursday (Nov 3),” he added.

Comm Mohd Yusri urged the public not to speculate, as the case is still being investigated.
