GE15: Amanah to field 15 new faces in Perak

IPOH: A total of 15 fresh faces will contest as Perak Amanah candidates in the 15th General Election (GE15), says the party's state chairman Datuk Asmuni Awi.

Asmuni, who will defend the Manjoi state seat, said nine of the new candidates are below 40.

“The youngest is 30-year-old Khairol Najib Hashim who will contest in Behrang.

“We are contesting 20 state seats and six parliamentary seats in Perak,” he told reporters at Wisma Amanah Perak here on Friday (Oct 28)

“Our formula is to contest in traditional PAS seats and we believe we can win there.

“We chose young candidates as we believe in their potential,” he said.

In GE14, Amanah contested four parliamentary and 12 state seats in Perak.

It won two parliamentary seats, Parit Buntar and Lumut; and six state seats, namely Titi Serong, Kamunting, Manjoi, Sungai Rapat, Pasir Panjang and Behrang.

State Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa will defend Parit Buntar while Datuk Mohd Hatta Md Ramli will seek to retain Lumut.

Zolkarnain Abidin will contest in Larut, Fakhruldin Mohd Hashim in Bukit Gantang, Ahmad Termizi Ramli in Kuala Kangsar and Nurthaqaffah Nordin in Parit.

Perak Amanah deputy chairman Datuk Mohamad Nizar Jalaluddin will defend his Sungai Rapat state seat, as will Yahaya Mat Nor (Pasir Panjang) and Muhd Fadhil Nuruddin (Kamunting).

For the other state seats, Amanah has chosen Ahmad Munzirie Ahmad Kabir (Rungkup), Muhaimin Sulam (Changkat Jong), Mohd Saad Ismail (Pengkalan Hulu), Mohd Sabri Abdul Manaf (Kota Tampan), Razali Ismail (Selama), Mohd Nazri Din (Kubu Gajah), Muhammad Nakhaie Wahab (Titi Serong), Sheikh Khuzaifah Sheikh Abu Bakar (Gunung Semanggol), Ahmad Saqif Ansarallah Ahmad Jihbaz Mokhlis (Selinsing), Megat Sharifuddin Ibrahim (Changkat Jering), and Muhd Fadhil Nuruddin (Kamunting).

Perak Amanah deputy Women's wing chief Zaiton Latiff will contest in Lubok Merbau, Mohd Jamsari Mahmood in Manong, Mohd Ikmal Mohd Iskandar in Belanja, Moud Nazri Hashim in Ayer Kuning, and Mohd Syamsul Alauddin in Kampung Gajah.
