Geng Taufiq crippled after crime spree in Penampang

KOTA KINABALU: A housebreaking gang known as “Geng Taufiq” was finally brought to heel after going on a crime spree stretching from January this year.

The gang is believed to have committed at least 20 break-ins and thefts in Penampang near here since 10 months ago.

Penampang OCPD Deputy Supt Mohd Haris Ibrahim said police managed to cripple the gang after a series of raids, including on the group’s hideout on Oct 14.

They arrested three gang members, including the mastermind.

The suspects, aged between 18 and 32, then led police to the stolen items.
