Stability vital to country’s prosperity, says Johor Umno chief

JOHOR BARU: Stability is key to guaranteeing the prosperity of a country and smooth running of an administration, says Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad (pic).

The Johor Umno chief added that the party supreme council meeting has decided to make "stability and prosperity" the main theme in the Barisan Nasional's 15th General Election (GE15) manifesto.

"Stability is the main and most important ingredient in guaranteeing the prosperity of a country and the smooth running of an administration.

"It is still fresh in my mind, how Johor was unable to govern well because it is always subject to the mercy of party politics.

"Although at that time we had implemented three economic stimulus packages worth more than RM400mil and reopened the Johor-Singapore border in stages, the post-Covid-19 recovery required a stable mandate and strong administration," he said in a Facebook post here on Thursday (Oct 13).

The former Johor mentri besar said the state was aware that efforts to restore the socio-economics of its people needed to be based on the people's complete trust in the government.

He said the mandate Barisan received at the recent Johor state election has enabled the state government to implement various pro-people initiatives with more responsiveness, confidence and consistency.

"Malaysia, on the other hand, should realise that, in facing future challenges, this country needs stability. Therefore, the mandate is returned to the people," he added.

Hasni said Umno and Barisan have successfully won more than two-thirds majority seats in the state polls where it was a meaningful achievement not only for the party but also for the people and Johor in general.

"God willing, we will give our best to win the parliamentary seats contested by Barisan. This is because Johor needs greater representation at the Federal level.

"Greater representation will help drive the state's prosperity in line with Johor's Barisan efforts and other state development agendas.

"I believe we will do it together again. I believe, together we will do it again. Vote for Barisan,” he added.
