Mild quake in Sabah's Kunak district, no damage reported


KOTA KINABALU: A 3.2 magnitude earthquake hit Sabah’s Kunak district late Wednesday (Oct 12).

The mild quake was reported at around 11.10pm, said State Fire and Rescue Department officials.

The department's assistant director of operations Misran Bisara said the quake, at a depth of 10km, was felt around the Kunak area.

“However, we did not receive calls about damage or injuries,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Oct 13).

He said firemen were despatched to check the situation on the ground, and found everything was well.

Malaysian Meteorological Department officials are also monitoring the situation.
