Request made to dissolve state assembly, up to Sultan Nazrin now, says Perak MB

IPOH: The request to dissolve the Perak Legislative Assembly has been made and Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah is now making his decision, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

The Perak Mentri Besar said the state administration would continue to function as usual until an announcement is made.

“I presented the request to dissolve the state assembly and to hold state polls to Sultan Nazrin.

“His Royal Highness acknowledged the request and said he would consider it," he told reporters at the state secretariat building here on Wednesday (Oct 12).

“I will seek an audience with Sultan Nazrin again once he has made his decision," he added.

Saarani earlier had an audience with the Perak Ruler at about 2pm to seek his consent to dissolve the state assembly to allow state polls to be held concurrently with the 15th General Election.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had on Monday said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has consented to the dissolution of Parliament, paving the way for GE15 to be held within 60 days.
