Floods: Bersatu forms special squad for relief missions

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has formed a special "Skuad Prihatin Bersatu" team to mobilise assets and volunteers for flood relief missions throughout the country.

Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin (pic) said in a statement Friday (Oct 7) the matter was decided during the party’s supreme council meeting chaired by its president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin the day before.

He said Bersatu supreme council member Mohd Rafiq Mohd Abdullah would lead the mission, which would be launched during the state-level Perikatan Nasional launch in Temerloh, Pahang, on Monday (Oct 10).

"The squad's strength will be enhanced from time to time to ensure the welfare of the victims before, during and after the floods,” he said, adding that the party also urged the government to be fully focused on preparations to face the north-east monsoon.

According to Hamzah, the supreme council also discussed the party machinery's preparedness for the looming 15th General Election. – Bernama
