Budget 2023: RM332mil allocated to promote active lifestyles


PETALING JAYA: A total of RM332mil has been allocated for sports and to promote active lifestyles.

Of the total, RM145mil was allocated for training programmes and enhancement of sports facilities nationwide.

RM154mil will be given to build a holistic sports ecosystem for athletes and the public.

RM20mil will be allocated for motorsports tracks, with emphasis on promoting drag racing while RM13mil will be given for eSports development.

Those contributing to non-government organisations (NGO) involved in sports grassroots development will be entitled to a tax exemption.

Meanwhile, RM12mil will be allocated for para athletes.

The National Athletes Welfare Foundation (Yakeb) will also get RM5mil to help former athletes in need.

To further boost the Fit Malaysia programme and National Sports Day, the government will be allocating RM10mil for 2023.

To combat obesity, the government will initiate the Healthy Malaysia National Agenda and allocate RM15mil.
