Budget 2023: RM209mil subsidy to improve rural air travel to Sabah, Sarawak

PETALING JAYA: The government has set aside RM209mil in subsidies for air transport to benefit people living in rural Sabah and Sarawak, says Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

The Finance Minister said that the government would improve the infrastructure at seven airports in Sabah and Sarawak and this included building wheelchair ramps.

He said this would benefit those who use a wheelchair with MASwings, the regional airline operating the rural air services in East Malaysia.

In tabling Budget 2023, he also said that beginning 2023, RM180mil would be set aside for city buses, adding that more routes will be added in Melaka, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.

He also said the government would continue with the My50 monthly pass that will benefit some 180,000 commuters.
