Slithering surprise: Python found in washing machine at Johor launderette

JOHOR BARU: A customer who wants to wash clothes at a self-service launderette received a slithering surprise after finding a python inside one of the washing machines.

Larkin Fire and Rescue station chief Suhaimi Mohd Jamal said the department received a distress call at the launderette located in Taman Impian Emas here at 9.41am on Saturday (Oct 1).

"One of the customers found a snake inside the washing machine, and the customer then told the premises owner.

"When we reached the location, we found the 1.8m-long (python, weighing about 20kg, inside the washing machine," he said in a statement here on Sunday (Oct 2).

Suhaimi added the python was immediately caught without much problem and has since been released at a location far away from human contact.

He also said the snake was not aggressive when caught but advised the public not to take action into their own hands when facing a snake.

"The public should call authorities if they find a snake or any wild animals that might wander off into their area," he added.
