PETALING JAYA: Umno will hold a special meeting on Tuesday (Oct 4) following a decision by its top leadership to hold the general election this year.
"Based on this, all division chiefs, wanita, youth and puteri division leaders are invited to attend the event," said party secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan in a letter on Saturday (Oct 1).

The special meeting will be held at Dewan Tun Hussein Onn, KL World Trade Centre and is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
All of the attendees are required to wear the party's red corporate attire.

On Friday (Sept 30) night, Ismail Sabri, who is also Umno vice-president, had agreed to seek an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to present a few potential dates to dissolve Parliament by this year.
Ahmad Zahid said this was among the decisions made during the party’s supreme council meeting at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on Friday night.
