Man arrested over kidnap, murder of woman from Broga

SEREMBAN: Police have detained a male suspect in his 20s in connection with the kidnapping-cum-murder of a woman from Broga.

State police chief DCP Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the suspect was detained in Ampang, Selangor.

"The suspect has been remanded for 15 days until Oct 12 to assist in investigations.

"Urine tests on the suspect have also returned negative for substance abuse," he said.

DCP Dzaffir said police had received a report on the kidnapping of the 27-year-old victim on Sept 26.

The woman was apparently abducted from her home in Broga a day earlier.

He said the victim's family had received a message on the WhatsApp application demanding a ransom for her release.

He said police then set up a team to track down the kidnappers.

However, on Sept 27, the Batu 14 Hulu Langat police station received a call from a member of the public about the discovery of a body in a valley in Batu Tekali, Hulu Langat.

"We then discovered that the remains belonged to the kidnapped victim.

"We also found identification documents on the victim's remains," he said, adding that her family members had also identified her remains.

The case, he said, was being probed under Section 12 of the Kidnapping Act 1961.
