Covid-19 Watch: 2,445 new cases bring total to 4,837,005


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,445 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (Sept 28), says the Health Ministry.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 4,837,005 cases since the pandemic began.

According to the ministry's CovidNow portal, 2,443 of the new Covid-19 infections in the country were local transmissions, while there were two imported cases.

The ministry also said through its CovidNow portal that there were 1,613 recoveries on Wednesday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 24,713.

Of the active cases, 95.4% or 23,567 individuals were undergoing home quarantine with no one being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 4.5% of active cases or 1,105 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 41 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country. Of that number, 22 require ventilator support.

A total of two deaths were recorded on Wednesday with none being classified as being brought in dead, bringing the total to 36,365.
