Four nabbed over vehicle thefts in Klang Valley

SERDANG: Four men were detained in connection with a spate of vehicle thefts in the Klang Valley.

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm A.A. Anbalagan said the suspects, aged between 27 and 37, were detained in Petaling Jaya and Dang Wangi on Sept 22 and 23.

"We seized various items including eight mobile phones, three cars, a laptop and a machete.

"We believe the suspects wore hats and face masks as well as used rented cars on their heist. They would threaten the victim using a machete before escaping with the car and loot," he told a press conference on Monday (Sept 26).

ACP Anbalagan said initial investigations revealed that the suspects were involved in various vehicle thefts in Serdang, Kajang and Kuala Lumpur since two months ago.

"We believe they are responsible for at least three vehicle theft cases.

"We are investigating further," he said, adding that the suspects had various criminal records.

ACP Anbalagan urged those with information on any criminal activity, especially vehicle theft to contact the police as soon as possible.
