DAP supports Christina Liew's defence of Tawau seat in show of Pakatan unity

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah PKR's Datuk Christina Liew has the full support of DAP to defend the Tawau parliamentary seat in GE15.

The support was given following a meeting between Christina and a three-member delegation from DAP led by its deputy secretary-general Datuk Liew Chin Tong here on Sunday (Sept 18).

Chin Tong said he hoped DAP and PKR would have close co-operation so they can win in Tawau and other areas.

"We (DAP) want to support you (Christina) so Pakatan Harapan can win," she said.

He concurred with Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Foong Hin that Pakatan should win at least 10 parliamentary seats in the state.

Chan said trust among Sabah Pakatan component parties was very important.

"There should not be any suspicion among ourselves.

"We are here to complement Christina's election machinery in Tawau," he said, adding that support from voters in Sri Tanjung would help PKR retain the Tawau seat.

Sabah DAP election director Phoong Jin Zhe said it was important to create strong links with Tawau PKR.

He said Tawau grassroots leaders and him had agreed to get their election machinery going.

"We have a clear direction and a common goal. We will pool our resources and work together on the ground," he said.

Phoong said DAP and PKR must help each other and show the people that they are united.

"Winning the Tawau parliamentary seat is of paramount importance. If we fail to win the seat, it means we will fail to form the next government," he said.

In response, Christina thanked the DAP leaders and stressed that PKR would work closely with Sabah DAP in GE15.
