Bikers berate driver who stopped on emergency lane after pregnant wife suffers nausea

IPOH: A 33-year-old driver of a SUV who stopped on the emergency lane along the North-South Expressway (NSE) near Sungkai because his pregnant wife suffered nausea has been scolded by a group of motorcyclists after a minor accident occurred.

Muallim OCPD Supt Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir said the incident happened around noon on Friday (Sept 16) at KM370 of the NSE.

He said the SUV was heading towards Ipoh from Kuala Lumpur when the driver's 34-year-old wife became nauseous due to her pregnancy.

"When she was done vomiting, the driver started driving along the emergency lane when an MPV suddenly entered the emergency lane, and the SUV driver reacted and slammed on the brakes," he said.

He said a motorcycle behind the SUV managed to brake in time but two other motorcycles further behind did not, causing a pile-up.

"The three motorcyclists sustained minor injuries and as they were furious at the SUV driver, started to scold him," he added.

Supt Mohd Hasni urged the people to stop circulating a video of the incident.

"All motorists should be careful on the road and always be considerate of other road users," he said.
