More programmes to train and empower youths as future leaders

JOHOR BARU: Youth empowerment will be among key initiatives that are expected to be addressed through the tabling of Budget 2023 on Oct 7, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

The Youth and Sports Minister said youth development programmes carried out by the government were to ensure a stable future for Malaysia.

“Programmes such as Malaysia Future Leaders School will be able to spur and unearth potential leaders among our youths.

“The implementation of Undi18 will help to create exposure among the youths on their responsibility, and we need to create more efforts in empowering them,” he told a press conference after performing the opening ceremony of SMK Bandar Baru Uda mini arena stadium yesterday.

Ahmad Faizal said besides youth empowerment, the ministry also aims to enhance sports as a culture so Malaysians could be fitter and healthier.

He said they wanted to liven up the local sports industry through programmes such as Malaysia Sports League, Little League and others which would create an economic spillover.

Ahmad Faizal also said plans were in the pipeline to enhance esports which has a huge growth potential for the country.

“I believe the Finance Ministry will allocate adequate allocation for us to carry out such programmes next year,” he said.
