Penang visitors stay indoors to avoid sudden rainfall

GEORGE TOWN: The unpredictable weather pattern has led visitors to Penang favouring activities in enclosed spaces.

Instead of going to the beach or doing outdoor activities, holidaymakers throng the malls, eateries or covered venues to avoid sudden rainfall.

Checks by The Star found some of the popular nasi kandar outlets were crowded, just as it was for other locations like the Chew Jetty in Weld Quay.

Tan Kin Ho, a 39-year-old plumber from Kedah, brought his family for a day trip for sightseeing and to try out popular Penang food like char koay teow and nasi kandar.

“We don’t mind the rainy weather or long queues.

“It’s nice for family bonding,” he said.

Businessman KC Lau, 35, from Kuala Lumpur, who was in Penang with his wife and their two young daughters, said they wanted an affordable cuti-cuti Malaysia.

They had planned to have an adventure-filled holiday and booked a homestay in Balik Pulau but their plans were scuppered by the stormy weather.
