AMPANG: Two men, both Myanmar nationals, have been detained for allegedly assaulting a shop owner in Taman Pandan Cahaya here.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the duo had assaulted the victim at about 9.30pm on Sunday (Sept 11).

"The suspects and another man went to the shop to buy alcoholic beverages and they raised their voices.

"The victim told them off and instructed them to leave," he said when contacted on Tuesday (Sept 13).

When the victim went outside, the two suspects, who were armed with wooden sticks, repeatedly hit him on his arms, chest and back, he said.

"The victim sustained multiple injuries," he added.

ACP Mohamad Farouk said police then arrested both suspects, aged 23 and 26.

"We also seized the wooden sticks used by the suspects.
