Afghan man stabbed by fellow countryman during robbery bid in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: An Afghanistan man was attacked by his fellow countryman after he refused to hand over money during an attempted robbery.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the 26-year-old store worker was attacked at his shop on Jalan Merdeka Permai 2 on Sept 10.

“The victim was approached by an Afghan man, whom he did not know and was told to hand over his money. When he refused, he was stabbed.

“The victim suffered injuries to the head and shoulder areas. The next day at 1.45am, police arrested an unemployed 18-year-old Afghan man on Jalan Wawasan,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Sept 11).

Also seized were the knife and clothes used during the robbery.

“The suspect was found without any valid travel documents. He has been remanded until Sept 17,” he said.
