PETALING JAYA: As the world came to grips with Queen Elizabeth II’s passing on Thursday (Sept 8), Malaysians far and wide paid their respects and shared their memories and encounters with the British monarch who had been the face of her nation for more than 70 years.
Here’s a selection of pictures from those who have crossed paths with the Crown, be it personally or through their loved ones.

My late grandmother, Hagerah Salleh.
My late grandfather, Brig Jeneral Abdul Latif Bin Hussain when he got posted to Sabah during his army days.
2. Edmund Das
“An honour to meet such a dignified, unassuming and warm person.” My mom, Rebecca Denis met HM The Queen in 1998 when she came to Malaysia to close the Commonwealth Games. During that visit, HM visited an orphanage where my mom was working.
3. Bala Murally
Beside Queen Elizabeth is my mother,1972. Mdm Yetchumi D/O Vayathy.
4. Dipti Kumar
I worked as an advisor to the Queen for several years.
5. Antony Lee
My grandfather Tun HS Lee and grandmother hosted the Queen and Prince Philip and Princess Anne at the Lady Templer Hospital on their visit to Malaysia in 1972.
6: Idris Abu Bakar
This picture shows the Queen visiting Kampung Tanjung Keling in Melaka on March 16, 1972. I was then the Melaka Culture, Youth and Sport director and can be seen speaking to Prince Philip. I was part of the welcoming committee and responsible for organising this event.
