Firefighters break cement barricade to rescue senior citizen

KUALA LUMPUR: Firefighters were forced to break through a cement barricade to get to a senior citizen who had locked himself inside.

In a statement, the City Fire and Rescue Department said that a team was deployed on Saturday night (Sept 3) after receiving a call for assistance by the police.

At the scene in Jalan Cengal Selatan, the man had locked himself in behind a door and the cement barricade.

“The deployed team reached the scene at 9.58pm. They then proceeded to break the cement barricade that had been built in front of the front door to reach the lock.

“The senior citizen was safely rescued and has been handed over to the police for further action,” the statement said.

Efforts to contact Kuala Lumpur police are under way.
