ALOR SETAR: A total of 117 programmes have been prepared for the three-day Kedah Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia (AKM) roadshow, scheduled from Sept 2 to 4, and 100,000 visitors are expected to show up for the event.
Rural Development Ministry secretary-general Datuk Ramlan Harun said the varied programmes for the event will not only attract many visitors but also provide various benefits to them.
"Based on surveys and promotions we conducted, we are convinced Kedahans will come together to this AKM roadshow. We really have tried our best, and we plan to make this Kedah edition the best, without forgetting the event’s original goals.
"Actually, we have prepared 117 programmes for the state’s citizens, a majority of them have not been held previously, so it’s unique to Kedah,” he said during the Ruang Bicara programme on Bernama TV, in conjunction with the Kedah AKM roadshow on Friday (Aug 26) night.
He said the ministry acted as a pioneer ministry for the Kedah AKM, with the concept of a people’s carnival, so that Malaysians could participate in programmes and not just visit exhibition booths.
Ramlan said the ministry had many agencies under it and would prepare 60 booths for local entrepreneurs to sell and introduce their products during the roadshow.
"In addition to programmes like talks and cooking demonstrations, we also have things like outreach programmes, fishing activities, programmes involving GiatMARA students, free haircuts and free motorcycle repairs.
"We will also have talks featuring famous speakers, entertainment programmes for youth, so we hope that we can attract visitors to the event,” he said.
He said they would be introducing an interesting programme, a Happy Hour sale that would be held twice daily, where necessities like rice and chicken are sold at cheap prices.
In addition, there will be lucky draws featuring a motorcycle prize daily and a car on the last day of the event, he added. - Bernama
