Umno Youth to take legal action against news portals for alleged defamation

PETALING JAYA: Umno Youth says legal action will be taken against two news portals for claiming that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was given an ultimatum to dissolve Parliament or risk being sacked by the party.

Its chief Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki (pic) said what was reported was defamatory and of bad intent, adding that it was aimed at creating a negative perception of Umno.

"I have contacted the party president and discussed it with Umno lawyers to initiate legal action against the two news portals," he said in a Facebook post on Friday (Aug 26).

"They should have got it (information) from official sources and instead of quoting sources," he said.

Umno held its political bureau meeting on Wednesday (Aug 24) which lasted until late at night. The meeting was also attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
