PETALING JAYA: There have been no calls to interfere in Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s ongoing final SRC appeal, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“None,” the Prime Minister said, when asked by reporters after attending the Budget 2023 Public Consultation session on Tuesday (Aug 23).

On matters discussed during the special Umno meeting on Monday (Aug 22), Ismail Sabri, who is a vice-president, said it revolved around strengthening the party itself.
“It was about Umno, about our preparation for the general election and more towards strengthening the party,” he said.

On Aug 22, it was reported that prominent Umno leaders had gathered at the party’s headquarters for a special closed-door meeting.
The meeting involved the Umno president, deputy president and division chiefs.

It was also reported that several top Umno leaders held a discussion with the prime minister at his official residence here on Monday night, in what is believed to be connected to the emergency meeting earlier in the day.
The party leaders, who included division heads, began arriving at Seri Perdana in the late evening.

Among those present at Seri Perdana were vice-presidents Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.
Mahdzir was also believed to be absent from the emergency meeting chaired by party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at Umno headquarters.
