Abdul Latiff to issue statement on report today

JOHOR BARU: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad has taken note of the Forensic Audit report on the littoral combat ships (LCS) scandal that was declassified.

The Mersing MP said he would not make further statements regarding the issue as it was already late in the night.

“Yes. I know about the declassification of the report. I will make a statement on Tuesday,” he said when contacted last night.

Earlier, Abdul Latiff denied that he was married to Zainab Mohd Salleh, who Rafizi Ramli said was involved in the LCS scandal.

“As a Cabinet minister, I am ready to give my full cooperation to the authorities in any further investigation,” he said in his statement.

Abdul Latiff served as deputy defence minister from 2008 to 2013 under Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who was then defence minister.

After the 14th General Election, Abdul Latiff defected from Umno to the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) party.
