Six-year-old boy killed in house fire in Kinabatangan


KOTA KINABALU: A boy was killed while five others in his family sustained injuries following a fire in Kinabatangan district, just after midnight on Monday (Aug 15).

The deceased is a six-year-old boy identified as Mohd Adlinsyah Mohd Adsni. His charred remains were discovered in one of the rooms.

The five who were injured included his parents, siblings and cousin.

State Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Misran Bisara said two others, a 77-year-old woman and a three-year-old boy, escaped unscathed.

“We received a call about the fire at Kg Perpaduan Jalan Kinabatangan at 12.40am,” he said in a statement.

“Our teams were sent to respond. The house was already engulfed in flames when firemen arrived at the scene,” he said.

The fire was brought under control at 2.04am while operations ceased at 3.56am, said Misran.

He said the injured victims were given preliminary treatment before they were taken to the hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
