Nine stranded on faulty boat off Semporna rescued

KOTA KINABALU: A group of seven tourists and two skippers, who were left adrift near Bohey Dulang island in Semporna on Monday (Aug 15) after the boat engine broke down, have been rescued.

They were brought to safety by the Semporna Fire and Rescue Department’s water unit.

A department spokesman said they received a report about the incident around 3.10pm.

“A team of rescuers was sent to the location and the victims were transferred to a Kevlar boat while the tour boat was towed to Lato-Lato Resort.

"The operation ended at 4.17pm," added the spokesman.
