Wanita BN convention calls for 30% seat allocation for women in GE15


KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita Barisan Nasional has shifted gear to "election mode" and is calling for 30% of GE15 candidates to be women, says Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad.

The Wanita Barisan chief, citing the Johor state election, said the women's wing had contributed a to the significant win for the coalition.

"I am confident that the calls for a 30% seat allocation for women in GE15 will be supported by the Barisan chairman," she said in her closing speech at the Wanita Barisan convention 2022 here on Sunday (Aug 14).

"It is not too much to urge the government to amend the Federal Constitution to set that each political party must submit at least 30% women candidates to qualify any party to contest in the general election," she said to thunderous applause from the floor.
