Covid-19 Watch: 3,943 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 3,943 new Covid-19 infections on Friday (Aug 12), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Saturday (Aug 13) that this brings the new total to 4,728,168 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 3,943, one is an imported case while the remaining 3,942 are local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 4,645 recoveries on Friday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 45,375.

Of the active cases, 96.3% or 43,701 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 31 people are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 3.5% of active cases or 1,577 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 66 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 45 require ventilator support.
