PETALING JAYA: It is another round of water woes for Selangor folks with 397 areas in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur due to chemical pollution in Pahang's Sungai Semantan after a highway mishap.
Air Selangor in a Facebook post said the accident occurred at km75.9 of Karak-Bentong highway towards Kuala Lumpur.
This led to chemical pollution in the river, bringing a halt to operations at Langat 2 water treatment plant at 4.30am.
Users in 172 areas in Kuala Lumpur and 222 in Hulu Langat and three in Petaling Jaya will experience water cuts from 10am Thursday (Aug 11).
The Langat 2 plant, according to Air Selangor, is expected to resume operations at 3.30pm with water being restored in stages.
It said water tankers will be mobilised, with critical premises prioritised and every measure was being taken to minimise the impact on users.
