‘Date for tabling Budget remains the same’

KUALA LUMPUR: The Finance Minister has dismissed talk that the tabling of Budget 2023 would be brought forward.

“It’s mere rumours. According to my knowledge, it’s still the same as the Parliament calendar on Oct 28,” said Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, adding that there are no changes yet and the official date of the tabling of this year’s Budget remains.

He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Ride and Run Veteran 100 event in conjunction with the Veterans’ Association of Malaysian Armed Forces’ (PVATM) 100th anniversary celebration and the Merdeka month at Dataran Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur here yesterday.

Also present were Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Mahadi Che Ngah and PVATM president Kapten Datuk Sharuddin Omar.

Tengku Zafrul was asked to comment on talk that Budget 2023 will be held at an earlier date, with some claiming that it will be tabled in September to make way for the general election.
