JOHOR BARU: The instructor who allegedly abused a six-year-old autistic child has had her statements recorded by the police here.
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the matter is still under investigation and that police have recorded statements from both the instructor and the parents of the child.
“We are still waiting for a medical report from the specialist on the bruises found on the child. At the moment it is unclear whether the bruises come from an external force or were done by the boy himself.
“The medical report is crucial for further investigation and we expect to get it as soon as possible. For now, we have recorded statements from all those involved,” he said in a press conference at the Marine Police Region 2 headquarters on Monday (Aug 1).
He said this in response to questions on the update of the alleged abuse case of the child that had gone viral recently.
Last Friday (July 29), police confirmed that they were investigating a complaint by a woman who claimed that her son was abused by an instructor at a therapy centre in Skudai.
Johor Baru Utara OCPD Asst Comm Rupiah Abd Wahid said that following the preliminary investigation, the boy was sent to Kulai Hospital for a medical examination and treatment, after which he was referred to the Sultan Ismail Hospital for specialist care.
The woman had claimed that her son was admitted to the therapy centre in November 2019, and the abuse is believed to have occurred on July 7 this year, with fingerprint bruises on his left shoulder and pinch marks on the chest.
