PETALING JAYA: Regardless of what Umno wants, an agreement exists between Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Perikatan Nasional which must be fulfilled, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pic).
Without elaborating on the details of the agreement, Muhyiddin said it was made before Ismail Sabri became Prime Minister.
“It is an agreement. Let Umno say what it wants,” the Perikatan chairman told reporters on the sidelines of the launch of his pictorial biography Muhyiddin Yassin: Leading a Nation in Unprecedented Crisis.
The former prime minister said the Perikatan supreme council had decided to send a delegation to seek an explanation on the agreement, which had yet to be fulfilled.
Muhyiddin said Ismail Sabri had yet to grant an appointment for the meeting and added that he would be leaving it to Perikatan secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin to liaise with the Prime Minister’s side.
On Thursday, Hamzah said Perikatan wanted the meeting to be held soon.
He cited disappointment over what he described as a lack of determination and commitment to fulfil what had been agreed upon.
However, Hamzah did not elaborate on what the terms of agreement were.
Meanwhile, Umno supreme council member Isham Jalil yesterday said there was no need for Ismail Sabri to bow down to Perikatan’s demands for a deputy prime minister’s post.
