My uncle is 'Abah', says officer who was helped by elderly man after fainting during parade

PETALING JAYA: The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry officer who fainted during the Enforcement Day parade on Thursday (July 21) explains that it was his uncle who came to his aid and held him upright.

However Nik Mohamad Adhar Nik Ismail, 22, said that he regarded his uncle Abdul Aziz Ya’acob, who is a taxi driver, like his own father.

“My uncle is 'Abah',” he told Sinar Harian on Thursday (July 21).

Nik Mohamad Adhar explained that he is an orphan who had been raised by the 60-year-old Abdul Aziz and his wife Rosmawati Ismail, 53, who he refers to as his mother, since he was three months old.

“My birth mother passed away when I was three months old and my father passed away when I was seven years old.

“They (Abdul Aziz and Rosmawati) treat me like their own,” he said.

He added that even though he was only a nephew, there was no difference in terms of treatment among him and Abdul Aziz’s six children.

Nik Mohamad Adhar said that he was indeed unwell during the event, which caused him to faint.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi shared heartwarming pictures of the incident in a Facebook post about the incident, which went viral for showing the touching moment of a "father" attending to his son.
