OPPO unveils portrait expert Reno8 Series 5G

OPPO has launched its latest Reno8 Series 5G, powered by its first self-developed, dedicated imaging NPU, MariSilicon, assisting users shoot ultra-clear portraits in even the most challenging scenarios, all while consuming even less power.

To further optimise the shooting experience in lowlight environments, both Reno8 Pro 5G

and Reno8 5G feature upgraded dual Sony flagship sensors – the IMX709 for the front camera and the IMX766 for the rear camera.

Together with OPPO’s self-designed quadra binning algorithm and DOL-HDR technology, the IMX709 enables the front camera to easily capture high-quality, professional-looking selfies in any scenario while supporting autofocus by enabling 2x zoom when taking selfies.

The Sony IMX766 sensor on the rear camera delivers an enhanced portrait experience with its large 1/1.56-inch sensor size and features like All-pixel Omni-directional PDAF and DOL-HDR.

With 4K ultra night video, users can capture ultra-clear portrait videos at night, while 4K ultra HDR video optimises portrait videos taken in the presence of strong backlight.

The camera casing and the back cover of the Reno8 Series 5G are seamlessly integrated, making the phone aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to hold, while preventing dust from getting trapped around the camera area.

The Reno8 5G comes with a 6.4-inch Amoled display with 90.8% screen-to-body ratio and 90Hz refresh rate that delivers buttery-smooth graphics, while the Reno8 Pro 5G features a 6.7-inch Ultra-Clear Amoled display with a 93.4% screen-to-body ratio, supporting one billion colours and 120Hz refresh rate for a smoother and more comfortable viewing experience with enhanced interaction.

The display is also HDR10+, SGS Low Motion Blur and SGS Low Blue Light-certified, as well as HD- and HDR-certified for Amazon and Netflix.

As the thinnest Reno Series smartphone to date, the Reno8 Pro 5G measures at just 7.34mm in thickness and weighs 183g, while the Reno8 5G comes with a 7.67mm in thickness and 179g in weight.

The Reno8 5G is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1300 5G-integrated SoC. Built on the 6nm process, the octa-core SoC includes an ARM Cortex-A78 ultra-core that operates at up to 3GHz to deliver the ultimate computing power. The standard build comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of ROM.

Powering Reno8 Pro 5G’s smooth performance is the MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX integrated 5G SoC. Built on the industry standards of 5nm processor, the smartphone comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of ROM storage.

Additionally, OPPO’s proprietary super-fast 80W Supervooc is able to charge the devices’ 4500mAh battery to 50% in only 11 minutes and a five-minute charge is enough for two hours of mobile gaming.

Together with the battery health engine, the battery lifespan can be extended up to 1600 charge or discharge cycles, or roughly four years of average use, which is double the current industry standard.

With the inclusion of OPPO’s 5-layer charging protection, both devices have passed TÜV Rheinland’s safe fast-charge system certification, as well as received an A Rating in TÜV SÜD’s 36-month fluency test.

To improve heat dissipation significantly, the Reno8 Pro 5G comes equipped with the ultra-conductive cooling system, while Reno8 5G comes with super-conductive vapour chamber liquid cooling system.

For mobile gamers, OPPO has worked with PUBG to build a background update feature to enable background downloading for games, so users will not have to be stuck on a downloading screen.

In addition to pro-level gaming features like 1000Hz ultra touch response, the Reno8 Pro 5G also features 90Hz high-refresh mode for PUBG Mobile.

Tying this all together is ColorOS 12.1 – the gateway to a smarter, smoother and safer smartphone experience. To ensure user privacy and safety, ColorOS 12.1 comes with features like anti-peeping for notifications, password required to power off and recent tasks protection.

The Reno8 Pro 5G, priced at RM3,499, is available in glazed green and glazed black, while Reno8 5G is priced at RM2,399 and is available in shimmer gold and shimmer black.
